We have the technology to make homes more efficient, affordable, comfortable, resilient, and better for the grid.
We have heat pumps, weatherization, smart thermostats, solar, batteries, EVs, demand response, and increasingly sophisticated utility programs. We have billions of dollars in incentives designed to help people adopt them.
So why is making a good energy decision for your home still so complicated?
Today, a homeowner or renter trying to figure out what to do next, whether to reduce energy costs, lower their carbon emissions, or make their home more resilient in the face of increasingly extreme weather, may need to understand building science, utility rates, rebates, tax credits, equipment sizing, electrification, weatherization, demand response, and how all of those pieces interact inside one specific home.
This is not a reasonable consumer experience. And it is definitely not a scalable strategy for transforming millions of homes, something we have to figure out if we’re serious about building a more sustainable energy system and meaningfully reducing carbon emissions.
That’s why we built Maiven.
Maiven was born from years spent working inside residential energy: in homes, in utility programs, in building science, in implementation, and at the grid edge.
Again and again, we saw the same problem: the individual technologies and programs were often good. The system connecting them was not.
Programs lived in silos. Information lived in different databases. Residents were asked to navigate multiple applications and eligibility requirements. Skilled people spent enormous amounts of time doing repetitive work manually. And too often, the burden of figuring out how everything fit together landed on the customer.
We believed there had to be a better way.
Maiven is an AI-powered platform for residential energy programs that brings those pieces together.
At the resident level, Maiven can start with a short, mobile-friendly virtual home assessment. From there, our platform uses building science, energy modeling, utility and home data, program rules, incentives, and automation to evaluate the choices available for that particular home.
Instead of handing someone a generic list of recommendations, Maiven helps answer much more useful questions:
What makes sense for my home? What should I do first? What will it cost? What incentives am I eligible for? How could it affect my energy bill? And how do I actually get it done?
For utilities, governments, program implementers, and other energy organizations, Maiven digitizes much of the work behind that customer experience, from assessment and qualification through personalized recommendations, incentive navigation, enrollment, contractor connection, project tracking, and reporting.
The bigger idea is simple.
If we want people to make choices that are better for their homes, their wallets, and the planet, we have to make those choices the easiest ones to understand, the easiest ones to act on, and the financially smartest ones to make.
The technology exists. The programs exist. The incentives exist.
Now we need to make all of it actually work for people.
